EVO.In – Why is a phase rotation applied when the phase section is activated?

When the Phase section is enabled in EVO In and EVO Channel, a phase rotation is applied (using filters). This is fully normal behavior, as this puts the tracks in a different phase repository. That’s why, as stated in the user manual, the phase module must be enabled on all tracks that have been recorded at the same time with microphones.

EVO In User Manual – Phase Module

When Phase is enabled on one single track, it will indeed affect the sound – If applied on ALL tracks recorded at the same time with microphones, there will be no impact on the sound (when the phase knob is at 0°), which is the important thing here.

This way of processing phase, guarantees a perfect frequency linearity from 20Hz to 20KHz.
